While bringing home a new puppy is cause for celebration, it’s also a lot of work for new owners. Oftentimes new puppy parents focus on the idea of a sweet, fluffy puppy in their home, and they overlook the reality of life with a puppy. Here are 3 no-fail new puppy gifts, which will grant you plenty of puppy visits from appreciative puppy owners!

3 No-Fail New Puppy Gifts

1. Soft cozy dog bed: Puppies sleep a lot. Even if the owners already bought one for the new puppy, it helps to have others on hand. When a puppy is teething, he will chew on anything and everything, including his own bed!

Puppies are also learning the appropriate places to relieve themselves, too. Sometimes, puppy forgets where he should go to the bathroom and will pee anywhere he can – even his own bed!

Even if the puppy never pees in his bed nor chews it up, he’ll always be able to use it in another room or when the other is being washed.

2. Bully sticks, puppy teething bones and durable chew toys: When puppies are not sleeping, they are often wild, sometimes demonic, adorable balls of teeth and claws!

Puppies explore the world with their mouth until they are properly trained and finished teething. Bully sticks are much easier for puppies and dogs to digest, and the good quality ones last a long time and will tire the puppy out which new owners will appreciate.

Keep their mouths busy and away from the furniture, your shoes and anything within chewing distance of the pup with specially designed durable chew toys and teething bones.

3. Puzzle toys with training treats and hollow durable dog toys with spray cheese: A bored puppy should be avoided above all things, which new owners will quickly learn. While they can’t stop a puppy from teething or having the occasional potty accident, they can prevent puppy boredom.

Pet stores and most large retailers sell puzzle toys for dogs in which they have to nose pieces on the toy, pull strings or flip lids to get a food treat. Purchase a puzzle toy and bag of treats for the new puppy. These actively engage a puppy’s developing brain while providing enjoyment for the whole family!

Puppies and dogs find comfort and calm down when they are anxious by licking. Buy a hollow, durable dog toy like a Kong and fill it with peanut butter or spray cheese. Give it to an over-excited puppy, and it will give her something else to focus on. If you stick it in the freezer, it will last even longer.

Puppies are a lot of fun and a lot of work. With a couple of extra items to keep them busy  and a lot of training, they will undoubtedly grow into wonderful companions.
